Our Mother & Baby home offers supported housing to six young mums and mums to be, aged between 16 and 25.
When you arrive at the Mother & Baby project, you'll be introduced to your key worker, who will work with you to create a support plan based on your individual needs. Wherever possible, we believe it is important for your baby's father to be part of your baby's life. We would encourage you to invite your baby's father to visit regularly, and if you would like them to, they are welcome to stay overnight for three nights of the week. Both he and your baby will benefit from his interaction and we will support you all to develop positive and rewarding relationships with each other.
Our staff can also help you to access other agencies, where neccesary. You can stay at the Mother & Baby home for a maximum of 2 years. During this time we will help you to gain the skills you will need to successfully manage your next tenancy as well as look after your growing child. We will help you find the most suitable home possible for you once you are ready to move on.
We offer tenancy skills training through our Home & Money and Ready 2 Move programmes. Further training opportunities are available through Wiltshire College and at Barford Training Centre. We also run a number of activities within the house, including: parenting skills, cookery lessons, bingo nights and Baby Massage.
The Mother and Baby Project is located within walking distance of the centre of Salisbury, with a direct bus service to the city centre and hospital. Salisbury has a leisure centre and cinema as well as other facilities. Outside of Alabaré, training courses are available through the local Learn Direct centre, Connexions and Wiltshire College.
