Pupils use Harvest Festival to support the homeless

Pupils from two Trowbridge primary schools have donated the goods from their Harvest Festival to the homeless and vulnerable.

Children from Holbrook and Longmeadow Primaries collected a wide range of foods, from tins and boxes of goodies to fresh home-grown fruit and vegetables.  They both decided to donate their collections to the Alabaré Trowbridge Drop In Centre.

Alabaré’s Drop In Centre in Trowbridge opens its doors three days a week to homeless and vulnerable people, offering warm shelter, hot food and drink and advice on issues like health and housing.  The food generously donated by the pupils will be used to make meals for the people who use the centre.

Tony Richmond, Alabaré’s Churches and Community Fundraiser, went into each of the schools with Rev Beth Hutton to thank the children and their families for their donations, which will make a huge difference to the lives of the people who use the Drop In Centres.

Tony says “It was great to have the opportunity to thank the children for their gifts personally and to see what a good understanding they have of how their donations will be used.”
