Homes not Streets

For twenty five years now Alabaré has been providing housing and support to homeless people, reaching out to those who for whatever reason, have been left destitute and homeless. We’ve provided them with more than a roof over their heads: we offer shelter and respite; we help with their physical and mental health; we help them to tackle the problems they face – and we help people prepare for work so that they can do what they’ve always wanted: to live independently and contribute to society.

But this is under threat and charities and supported housing providers have no idea whether or how they will be able to continue to provide housing and services.

Homes not Streets is our campaign to create stable and sustainable supported housing to protect vulnerable people from homelessness.
In particular we wish to;
    • work with the Government and other providers to find a sustainable funding solution for Supported Housing;
    • seek new grants to secure our provision for homeless Veterans.
Local Housing Allowance and the proposed cap to Housing Benefit
Since the launch of our campaign, the Government has announced a change to its plans for the LHA cap, which will see the proposal scrapped in its original form, and providers consulted on new plans. Read our response to this announcement by clicking here...
