New Senior Chaplain Commissioned
Alabaré Christian Care Centres welcomed its newest addition with a special service at St Thomas’ Church in Salisbury.
Father Daniel McAvoy has been appointed as Senior Chaplain, a new post that the charity has just introduced. He will work with a team of volunteer Chaplains to provide spiritual and pastoral support to all Alabaré service users, staff and volunteers as and when they need it.
He is a trained psychotherapist, has been a prison chaplain and has run centres for young people, refugees and asylum seekers and so has a good understanding of many of the issues surrounding Alabaré clients.
Father Danny was commissioned at with a special service in St Thomas’ Church. The Address will be by the Bishop of Salisbury and he was welcomed into his new role by Fr Ronnie Mitchell and the Rev John Proctor.
During the ceremony Fr Danny assisted by Fr Desmond Connolly produced a tapestry symbolising the work of Alabaré as each project brought a piece of material representing their work to be woven together on a loom.
The tapestry is now on display at Alabaré’s Salisbury office and people are encouraged to visit and see it for themselves.
