Winter Appeal
This winter, Alabaré's Drop In centres will serve up thousands of hot meals. For many, this will be the only hot food they get.
With the cold Winter months upon us, we are delighted to have been able to complete Alabaré Place in time to house some of those who would otherwise struggle to survive on the streets. The new hostel will be able to house up to 33 people at any one time, and around 50 people each year.
 At this time of year we are acutely aware that there are others in our community without housing or daytime shelter, and lacking such basic necessities as hot food and drinks. When temperatures head towards zero, support for these people becomes critical.
Alabaré’s two Wiltshire Drop In Centres are an essential provision for people who may have no other means of getting a hot meal or who may suffer from the isolation of living alone. Last year, the two centres provided 7,630 hot meals. For many, this will be the only hot food that they have access to. The comfort of having a non-judgemental friend to speak to or a warm place to go is often just as important.
Our Salisbury Drop In Centre will soon be moving into Alabaré Place, giving it a permanent home for the future and great facilities from which to help our service users. Our Trowbridge Drop In is less fortunate and we are still looking for a new permanent home.
The cost of running our two Drop In Centres is around £100,000 per year. We do not receive any guaranteed funding towards these costs, and so are reliant on your generosity and goodwill to keep these services running each year.
