Spire FM on air auction for Alabaré
Alabaré Christian Care Centres has been named as Spire FM’s chosen charity for 2008.
As part of this Spire FM will be hosting a live on air auction on Sunday 30th March between 9am and 4pm. Spire FM broadcast on 102 FM across South Wiltshire and West Hampshire.
More than 100 impressive lots will be going under the hammer and there is sure to be something to interest everyone. A set amount of lots will be auctioned off every hour, with the final hour being dedicated to ‘super-lots’ – items and experiences that money just cannot buy.
Amongst them is a cricket bat signed by the two teams in the Friends Provident Trophy final in 2007, two days use of a classic MGB, and a day’s sailing for four on a yacht in the Solent.
But if you’re not up for something quite so extravagant, there are plenty of other lots to choose from including spa breaks, therapy vouchers, children’s entertainment, local artwork and meals out, there’s even a cuddly toy!
You don’t have to wait until the day of the auction to place your bids, a special auction website has been launched, which lists every single lot and who it was donated by. Via this site you can place an online bid at the click of a mouse. Go to www.spirefm.co.uk and follow the link on the homepage.
On the day of the auction you will still be able to view items and bid via the website, but you will also have the option to phone in with a bid as well – there will be numerous phone lines being manned by Alabaré staff waiting to take your call. Just call 01722 416644, but please remember, phone bids can only be taken during the auction and not before.
Also, please note that during the closing 15 minutes of each lot, online bidding will cease and you can only bid via the phone.
The money raised through the on air auction will go to Alabaré’s Drop In Centre in Salisbury.
The Salisbury Drop In Centre, which is based in the Friary Community Centre in Carmelite Way, provides a warm and welcoming safe daytime shelter to homeless and vulnerable adults in the area. It opens its doors three days a week (11am – 3pm Mon, Fri and Sun) offering hot food and drink, showers, laundry facilities, a clothing exchange service and advice and guidance on issues like housing, employment and benefits.
