Andover’s young homeless gain from a Wilkinson makeover
Alabaré’s Sarum House, a project for young people facing homelessness in Andover, has been chosen by Wilkinson to receive a home makeover.
16 branches of Wilkinson chose Alabaré’s Sarum House to be their project of the year. On 17th and 18th January 16 managers plus members of staff will be attending Sarum House to decorate all 18 bedrooms by painting a feature wall in each room, all walls, ceilings and woodwork.
The company will also be supplying matching curtains, bedding, lampshades, duvets, pillows, and towels for every room. A picture and a clock will be provided in each room.
Sarum House provides supported accommodation for 18 young people with medium to high support needs in a supportive, stimulating and safe environment, enabling them to make life changes and develop so that they are able to move on into successful independent living.
Nicky Broadbent, Alabaré Test Valley Foyer Accommodation Manager says:
“We are over the moon that Wilkinson has chosen Sarum House to be their project of the year. A newly re-decorated room will make a huge difference to a young person who is vulnerable and facing homelessness – it makes a house a home, and goes a long way towards helping them to gain a sense of confidence and self-worth.”
