Changing Lives in Clevedon is an exciting new charity shop which opened for trade in mid July, selling high quality second hand goods including clothing, furniture and other household items.  The shop itself is spacious, enabling a wide range of goods to be sold including larger items of furniture, which makes it different from most other charity shops.

Changing Lives is a joint venture between Alabaré Christian Care & Support, and Crisis Centre Ministries. All profits will go to support the work of these charities: more information below.

Alabaré Christian Care and Support is a regional charity that works with homeless and vulnerable people across the South West.  Funds raised through Changing Lives go to Andrew House in Clevedon, a supported housing project for men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.  It provides accommodation to up to 11 men who have completed a rehabilitation programme but feel they need further support before living completely independently.  Staff at Andrew House can offer advice and support with a range of issues including education, employment and health, as well as providing life skills training where necessary.

Crisis Centre Ministries is a local charity based in Bristol. It has been providing a Christian response to the needs of homeless people for over 25 years.  The Wild Goose Coffee Shop serves an average of 300 meals a day, with regular assistance from 140 supporters from the local churches.  They plan to move the coffee shop to larger premises in the autumn of 2010 in order to help more homeless people start rebuilding their lives.
